music to my ears

March 23, 2010

Chandra, the brilliant mind behind p r e t t y t i m e p i e c e, is hosting a wonderful music swap.

all you need to do is email her that you’d like to be included, along with your mailing information.

she’ll give you an address and then it’s all up to you to make a mix cd filled with your favorite songs and artists to share with another reader.

there’s nothing better than falling in love with a new band, is there?

some of my favorites, top to bottom:

the kills

the duke spirit

the strokes

if you could just 12 songs to blow someone’s mind, what would you get them to listen to?

(you don’t have to pick 12, just a few of your top played on iTunes will do)

ooo thank you so much for posting about this! :D it’s going to be awesome, i’m so excited about it… i just adore music.

in my 12 would definitely be “bowl of oranges” by bright eyes – the last stanza is sort of like my life mission statement:

“but if the world could remain
    within a frame
like a painting on a wall
then I think we’d see the beauty then
    we’d stand staring in awe
    at our still lives posed
    like a bowl of oranges
    like a story told
by the fault lines and the soil.”

Top 12 would include “Fix You” by Coldplay, “The Adventure” by Angels and Airwaves, “Sweet and Low” by Augustana and “Going Away to College” by Blink-182. I love music that reminds me of a specific time in my life :)
