something simple

last night I went out for drinks with a couple of friends.  we weren’t interested in houseparties or dance clubs.  we just wanted someplace to drink and be seen.

we ended up at Le Mardi Gras in Shady Side.  it was small, dark, and made us feel like we were in a speak easy from long ago.  we were able to grab seats at the end of the bar and ordered a very simple drink.

grapefruit + vodka.  the rather old bartender took a grapefruit, sliced it in half, juiced it in a juicer, and poured the vodka on top.  so simple, so fresh, and for $7, all I needed was one.  normally I am very against pulp, but in this drink, it kept me from sucking it down and appreciating how refreshing it really was.

sometimes you need to try something new to remind yourself how good simple can be.

Love greyhounds. I’ve never had a fresh one, but they always remind me of my oldest cousin who likes to get the youngins drunk off of them at family functions. They are delicious :)
