the most wonderful time of the year

April 13, 2011

friends, it is that time of year again.  here at Carnegie Mellon, the land of the computer geeks and overcast skies, we are celebrating the most sacred and wonderful of all holidays: CARNIVAL.

we get a solid two days off from school, the teachers don’t assign much work over the weekend, and we are encouraged to let loose, love life, and celebrate how wonderful it is to be a young college kid in Pittsburgh.

the alumni are coming back, the liquor stores are sold out, and my roommates picked up a pinata.  it’s going to be a blast (it always is.)

it’s been raining all week here in Pittsburgh, but I am just waiting for a Carnival Miracle.  they happen.  so while it was cold and dreary this morning, the Carnival gods are letting the sun peak out tonight.  the next few days should be sunny and lovely because it is Carnival.  we deserve this after all of the harsh Pittsburgh weather and mornings spent watching the sun rise from the library.

now I’m fueling up with my favorite Carnival meal: Trader Joe’s quinoa bread, toasted, spread with hummus and topped with 2 fried eggs and Parmesan cheese.  perfect fuel for dancing/beer ponging/whatever else I get myself into.

Happy Carnival!

Enjoy it!! I actually didn’t get to go to Carnival the one year I was there because I had to have emergency wisdom teeth surgery. Boo!
