summer dining

May 29, 2011

temperatures are supposed to creep over 90* this weekend, and this heat has me craving very specific food.

all I want for breakfast is a big bowl of crunchy cereal, a sliced banana, and cold almond milk.

Whole Foods to the rescue!

for lunch and dinner, all I want are big, fresh salads.  piles of bright greens, tangy dressing, and crunchy veggies.

again, Whole Foods fills that void.  I used my own baby spinach and added a bunch of goodies from the salad bar – wheatberries, marinated mushrooms, feta cheese, sliced red peppers, and chunks of cucumbers – all for only $1.18!

I’ve decided that the perfect summer vessel is the mason jar.  it’s free, enormous, and ideal for cold water and icy margaritas.  it’s sturdy base also ensures that I can prop it on my couch and it won’t spill everywhere.  I am 22 years old and more accident-prone than ever.

♥♥♥

what are your plans for the long weekend?  my roommate has invited me to her dad’s house to eat veggie burgers, swim in her pool, and play with her new puppy.  obviously, that’s how I’ll be spending my day.

A big bowl of crunchy cereal, a sliced banana, and cold almond milk? I am having exactly that for breakfast :).

Enjoy the beautiful day! The sun is shining and I’ll be at the beach with my roommates and friends; I couldn’t imagine a better way to spend my birthday.

I too had the exact same breakfast ;) I’m definitely thinking a smoothie is on the menu for lunch.
    Have a great holiday weekend!
